Rice is one of the most frequently consumed cereal grains across the world. Most of the people in the world consider only white rice as rice and are not much aware of brown rice. Recently, health conscious people have started to replace white rice with brown rice, which is considered as a far healthier option.

According to a recent study, replacing white rice in diet with brown rice shown reducing the risk of developing type2 diabetes. Replacing the same amount of white rice with other  grains such as wheat and barley reduced 36% risk.

Brown rice unlike white rice still has the side hull and bran. The side hulls and bran are rich in proteins, thiamine, calcium, magnesium, fiber and potassium. So, whether you're trying to lower a few kilos or making efforts to beat diabetes, brown rice would be healthy in many situations. A low GI (glycemic index) in brown rice helps in the reduction of insulin spikes.
