17 years after Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr. shocked you as high school teenagers in “I Know What You Did Last Summer”, one movie studio is planning to reboot the flick.
That's right! Sony Pictures has roped in 'Oculus' co-writer and director Mike Flanagan and partner Jeff Howard to once again adapt the 1973 book onscreen.
Neal Moritz, who produced the original film, will fund this project too.
The thriller twill orb around four teens who accidentally run over a pedestrian. Scared, the group dumps the body into the water.
As they return to their normal lives, an anonymous letter appears with the message, "I know what you did last summer." Now their actions will haunt them for months to come.
The surprise hit grossed more than $125 million worldwide and spawned two sequels including I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and the direct-to video I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer. The film is likely to come in 2016.
