Mithun Chakraborty quits Rajya Sabha

Gourang Chakraborty better known by the stage name Mithun Chakraborty has resigned as Rajya Sabha MP.

Mithun Chakraborty is a famous Indian Actor, who acted in Hindi and Bengali films.

He Started his career in 1976 Mrinal Sen for which he won National film award for best actor. He rose to stardom after starting in a low budget spy movie ‘Surakshaa’.

He acted in more than 110 movies and also shared screen with stars like Amitab bachan in movie ‘Agneepath’.

In year 2014 he joined as a Member of Parliament for the upper house, Rajya sabha.

He was nominated by the Chief Minister of West Bengal ‘Mamata banerjee’ for her ‘party All India Trinamool congress’ .

But now Mithun Chakraborty has handed over his resignation to Rajya Sabha Chairman, according to TMC sources. He cited health issues as the reason behind his resignation,  

Chakraborty's stint as MP was marked by a very poor attendance record, having only attended the Parliament for three days. He also did not participate or show any interest in any debate or asked any questions in the House.
