Central Railway Earns Rs 42.15 Crores from Ticketless, Crooked Travelers in one month

The Central Railway, one of the 16 zones of Indian Railways that is headquartered in Mumbai has registered record earnings of Rs 42.15 crores from ticketless and crooked travelers in the period of April to May.   

The total of 7.59 lakh cases have been recorded from ticketless or irregular travelers and unbooked luggage was detected during the period of one month as against 7.25 lakh cases recorded in the corresponding period earlier this year showing the increase of 4.70 per cent, the Central Railway said in a statement.

During the period of April to May 2018, the earnings realized from such travels was Rs 42.15 crore, showing an increase of 2.25 per cent as to corresponding period last year of Rs 41.22.

About 1,517 cases of transfer of reserved journey tickets were found and recovering Rs 12.77 lakh as penalty apart from the ticketless or irregular travelers.
