In a New Orleans park hundreds of people gathered for a block party as well as a music video filming on Sunday. It was there a gunfight erupted between two groups, leaving 16 people wounded, according to police.

Tyler Gamble, New Orleans Police Department spokesman, told to Reuters that no fatalities were reported due to the incident. However, the circumstances surrounding the shooting re details of what precipitated the violence are not known yet.

Replying to the possibility of the involvement of gang activity, Gamble said it "was still too soon to say."

"We know, by speaking with some of the victims, that there were two groups of people shooting at each other," Gamble said.

According to witnesses, groups involved in the shooting fled the park on foot immediately. No arrests were reported. A total of 10 gunshot victims were rushed to area hospitals in ambulances, while six more were taken through private conveyance. Gamble said, all these victims have either suffered a "direct gunshot wound" or a "graze wound". All of them are in stable condition. Police did not have details like the gender or ages of the victims.

At around 6:15 p.m. Central Time, the incident took place at the Bunny Friend playground after a community "second line" parade. Hundreds of people gathered at the time in the park for a block party that was not permitted, according to the police.

Chris Goodley, New Orleans police Commander said while speaking in a video clip posted by the New Orleans Times-Picayune website, that “the crowd at the park remained "orderly" after the shooting. But we were trying to preserve the crime scene as best as we could and tend to the victims."
