A man was stabbed to death by the victim’s relative as he was accused of attempting to rape a minor girl in Navalgund town on Sunday.

The accused, Fakruddeensab Nadaf, 52 was admitted at the government hospital after being attacked by a mob following the alleged crime on Saturday.

Ranganath Neelammanavar the police inspector of Navalgund circle said that, Nadaf tried and attempted to rape a minor girl at Basaveshwar Nagar in Navalgund. “When the girl was alone at home, Nadaf lured her and took her to his home. Neighbours who observed Nadaf’s moves assaulted him and handed him over to police. The accused was admitted to the hospital for treatment,” he said.

According to the police, the man was attacked by the relatives of the minor and the neighbors and was later admitted to a government hospital.

The identity of the victim was not disclosed in order to protect her privacy.
