Cyclone Yaas makes a landfall in Odisha

Cyclone Yaas which is named as the powerful cyclone in the recent times made a landfall in the eastern part of the country as per the weather sources. The winds gusted at 140 mph and it took a landfall in Odisha. Cyclone Yaas is the second storm that has hit the country in a week after Tauktae took a toll on the western coast of the country. Mass evacuations are planned and more than 13 lakh people from the coastal belt of West Bengal and Odisha are evacuated from the past two days. The videos showcased on the television and social media clearly hinted about the rough sea and the strong winds along with rains that lashed Odisha. The weather department called Cyclone Yaas a very severe one.

After crossing the Odisha coast, Cyclone Yaas is expected to weaken and the states are expected to receive heavy rainfall. The cops rescued 10 people after their boat was capsized near the shores of Jagatsinghpur district in Odisha. The Indian Navy is quite active and the naval base in Chilka is monitoring the ships of the region and they are carrying out the rescue and relief operations of the region. The second wave of coronavirus made the storm preparations quite complicated. The officials of Odisha suspended the coronavirus testing and vaccination process. Cyclone Yaas took a landfall in the north of Dhamra and south od Bahanaga.
