The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested two people in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak probe, becoming the first arrest in the case. The accused Manish Kumar and Ashutosh Kumar were arrested from Patna, Bihar. The central agency has registered an FIR against six people in the NEET paper leak case. PTI quoted officials as saying both suspects provided a safe place to candidates before the exam where they would hand over leaked papers and answer keys. The accused appeared in court and demanded further arrests by the police. As the furor continues over Fazal's marks for the students scoring 720, the CBI has decided to file the case after the government decided to refer the matter to a central agency for a full investigation. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exam, has canceled the marks awarded to 1,563 students and postponed the exam to June 23. Only 52% of the 1,563 students attempted to take the exam.
