Shah Rukh Khan has been admired for his remarkable acting career and the manner in which he embraces his role as a father. The Bollywood icon takes great pride in his children: Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan, and AbRam Khan, often expressing the significant impact they have on his life and decisions. In a conversation with SCREEN, SRK mentioned that his family plays an ongoing role in steering him both in his personal life and his career. He remarked, "My kids provide the best feedback! My family serves as my guiding light, keeping me humble and reminding me of what is genuinely important, irrespective of how hectic life may become. " Contemplating the notion of legacy, he remarked, "A legacy goes beyond just professional accomplishments; it is about the principles and experiences I cultivate with my loved ones. Striking a balance requires being wholly engaged. As I chase my ambitions and devote time to my work, I maintain awareness of the simple pleasures of fatherhood. "
Aryan made his directorial debut the previous year with The Bads of Bollywood, which launched on Netflix. Before this, he and his father worked together on The Lion King, the 2019 adaptation directed by Jon Favreau of Disney's animated classic from 1993. In this film, Shah Rukh lent his voice to Mufasa, while Aryan took his first role in voice acting as Simba. Looking back on that time, Shah Rukh reflected, "I vividly recall seeing The Lion King during its original release and how touched I was by its characters and unforgettable music. As my children were growing up, it became a regular feature of our family movie nights, and reliving that magic with them is among my most cherished memories. Since then, that bond has only strengthened, with my kids becoming a vital part of this narrative. " Expressing his pride in his children’s development, the DDLJ star noted, "I am immensely proud of them. It has been a joy to witness them blossom as both performers and individuals".
In discussing collaborative creativity, he remarked, "Engaging in voiceover work is always captivating. It exercises a different kind of acting skill, and I enjoyed bonding with my children on that artistic level. While I guided them through the process, their curiosity and creativity introduced me to different viewpoints. "
Even though Shah Rukh provided his voice for Mufasa in The Lion King series, he expresses that Simba holds equal significance for him. "The charm of The Lion King lies in its everlasting message that speaks to everyone—whether you are a child embarking on a quest to find your identity, or a parent striving to prepare your children for a world where your support may not always be available," he mentioned. Reflecting on his childhood, he stated, "My father was always expressive with his affection, and I aspire to steer my children while allowing them the space to forge their own journey. "
Shah Rukh also reflected on his beginnings in Mumbai. "When I initially arrived in Mumbai, there was a defining moment—standing near the water, with minimal clarity yet abundant hope—when I contemplated who I aspired to be. That experience has remained with me throughout the years," he shared. He further elaborated, "The ocean brings a sense of humility. You come to understand that not every aspect needs to be managed, and that vastness serves as a reminder that, metaphorically, numerous elements are greater than yourself. The equilibrium between aspiring greatly and relinquishing control is something I have held onto through the years. "
Regarding his professional life, Shah Rukh Khan will next appear in King, which is set to hit theaters this December. This film represents his inaugural major cinematic partnership with Suhana Khan.
