Sensex elevates 84 points!

On Monday, starting the new fiscal on a positive note, the BSE Sensex, gained 84 points in early trade on increased buying by funds as well as retail investors at prevailing levels. 

Moreover, the 30-share index rose by 83.98 points, or 0.44 per cent, to trade at 18,919.75 points, with sectoral indices led by oil and gas, capital goods and realty, trading in positive zone with gains up to 1 per cent. In fact, the Sensex had gained 154.35 points in the previous two sessions. 

The broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose by 22.10 points, or 0.38 per cent, to 5,704.65. 

According to the brokers value buying by funds and retail investors as stocks available at attractive levels, supported the upside but India’s Current Account Deficit touching a record high of 6.7 per cent in the October-December quarter forced participants to adopt cautious approach while in the Asian region, Japan’s Nikkei fell by 1 per cent in early trade today, while Hong Kong markets remained closed. 

On Thursday, the U.S. Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.36 per cent higher in previous session. 

As a concluding fact, Forex and money markets are closed on Monday for annual account closing.
