The world can't stop lauding the 17-year-old Lucy Code's good sense in refusing to meet up with James Franco for a late night hotel tryst. But a certain section is also wondering why did she entertain him in the first place. Didn't she spent the whole day of April 2 chatting him up on Instagram? Was she laying a bait for the actor? Was she seeking fifteen minutes of fame? What was she up to?

She simply wanted “bragging rights,” insists celebrity relationship expert, Dr. Gilda.

The Scott teen's motives were clear. Lucy was of the mindset that ”anything that would raise the status of a teenager would work fabulously for her.” That is why she jumped at the chance to flirt with James. “What teenage girl doesn’t want to be rich and famous?”

“He is reaching out to her, and it’s perfect,” Dr. Gilda says. “She had an opportunity to get her name in the news, and get some notoriety, and she thinks this is gonna be the best thing ever to happen to her.”

Although she eventually turned down James advances, she couldn’t resist the temptation of coming to the spotlight.

“Just like Monica Lewinsky kept the blue dress, it’s called bragging rights. Anything that would raise the status of a teenager would work fabulously for her, [Lucy] thinks,” Dr. Gilda says. “And already, obviously, it’s worked pretty well because we’re all talking about it. She got her wish, she’s achieved her goal, and now anything is possible. I fear, however, what is next?”

Lucy’s grandmother, Beryl Sussex, 84, however, sprang to her granddaughter's defense.

“Lucy has lived quite a sheltered life, she comes from a respectful family,” Beryl said. “She isn’t one for the limelight at all.”

In fact, Beryl thinks James is to be blamed entirely for scandal and should be held accountable for his misdeeds.
