It's been five long years since the King of Pop left us to eternity. Despite that, his craze seems to live on.
Tons of Michael Jackson fans congregated at the Forest Lawn Cemetery outside Los Angeles where the 50-year-old pop sensation now rests in peace. They heaped his tomb with flowers and paid teary-eyed tributes to their favorite star.
"We love you Michael," read a banner on a giant red heart placed outside the small mausoleum in Glendale, north of downtown LA.
Jackson died of an overdose of the clinical anesthetic propofol on June 25, 2009, administered by his personal medic during "This is It" concert in London.
His physician, Conrad Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 over the star's death and jailed for four years, but was later released in October 2013 after being found innocent.
Jackson was gearing up for a global comeback with the tour to help him evade bankruptcy, five years after being acquitted of child molestation charges that tattered his career.
At the time of his death, he had debts of up to USD 500 million. But in the five years since his death, his executors have minted in much more than USD 700 million as revealed in the book "Michael Jackson Inc”, all thanks to the movie of the rehearsals of the doomed “This is It” tour, a touring Cirque du Soleil stage show and two posthumous albums hitherto.
