A new film about Melania Trump has not been popular in the UK, as shown by very few people buying tickets. Before its first showing in London on Friday, only one ticket was sold for an afternoon showing at one cinema, and just two for an evening show there. Even fewer tickets were sold at bigger cinemas, with no advance sales for any showings at Vue theaters in London. This happened even though the film was approved and heavily advertised in the US. The CEO of Vue, Tim Richards, told a newspaper that his company received complaints for showing the film, but he believes cinemas should not decide what people can watch. He stated that if a film is approved, it should be shown, no matter what people or politicians think.
The film shows the US First Lady's life, both at work and at home, in the 20 days before President Donald Trump's second time becoming president.
The documentary examines the First Lady's fashion choices and public appearances during Inauguration Day, as well as the mood of her husband's inaugural speech. It also covers her diplomatic activities, how the Secret Service protects her, and personal moments with her family, sometimes showing the president's more humorous side. This film is part of a larger agreement, reportedly worth $40 million, with Amazon MGM Studios, which also includes a future series focusing on issues important to the First Lady, like children in foster care. The movie was shown privately to the president, the first lady, and their close circle at the White House earlier this month and will be released in cinemas on January 30.
