Did you think a fortune cookie can only predict whether you will win a lottery or not. You are wrong. A North California woman has credited a fortune cookie of helping her to win the lottery prize.

The woman named Merces Goncalves used numbers inside a fortune cookie while getting the  California Lottery. And the lucky numbers helped Goncalves to win $421,000 in the Mega Millions game.

Goncalves said that her winning ticket was purchased in Los Gatos in Santa Clara County at a liquor shop.

The fortune cookie, however, did not give her the winning number 10. It gave her 9. Had it given the number 10 to Merces Goncalves, the lucky woman would have won the $240 million prize money.  

However, the retired woman is not complaining. Goncalves revealed that she and her husband Alvaro Goncalves will go for a Hawaiian honeymoon, a plan they had made but couldn't take 52 years ago.
