Air India is likely to operate longest nonstop commercial flight in the World soon, linking IT hotspots of India and the US. Commercial flight could link Bengaluru and San Francisco, which are nearly 14,000 km away from each other.

Qantas, Australian airliner, operates the longest nonstop commercial flight with 13,730 km journey. Dallas Fort Worth in the US is connected to Sydney, through this flight. Coming year, Dubai with Panama City would be linked by mega carrier Emirates of UAE. The distance covered would be 13,760 km, avoiding the war zones of Syria and Iraq.

Senior AI official said, "We are planning to have a nonstop from either Delhi or Bengaluru to San Francisco on our Boeing 777-200 long range aircraft. And in addition we are planning a direct service between Ahmedabad and London due to the huge demand for travel between these two cities.”

If the commercial flight between Bengaluru-San Francisco comes into operation, the longest commercial flights flying time will be nearly 17 to 18 hours. Amongst the first key decisions are the ambitious flights to be taken by Ashwani Lohani, AI's new chairman.

There is no direct flight from SFO to India in spite of travel requirement of techies between these IT hubs.
