Kabali fever: Office holiday for watching Rajinikanth film!

How would you feel, if your boss gives you a holiday to watch your favorite star's movie on its releasing date? Certainly amazing! That's what happened in India on the releasing date of Kabali. Employers in the South Indian cities have given their employees a day off on Friday, July 22 so they can attend screenings of a new film starring Tamil cinema superstar Rajinikanth.

The Financial Express reported, the companies said that, the move has been taken to avoid people calling in sick, turning off their phones or simply failing to turn up for work. Adding to this, many companies have even booked tickets for their employees as well.

Bangalore-based Opus Waterproofing issued an official notice regarding the holiday. The holiday is declared to “avoid sick leaves, mobile switch-offs and mass bunks,” the notice said.

Kabali, the star's latest movie, was scheduled to be released in some 12,000 screens.

Rajinikanth is one of Asia's highest paid actors, considered as one of the most bankable stars in India. The movie will also be dubbed in Telugu, Hindi and Malay.

Even before its release, Kabali, a gangster drama, has raked in some $30m (£20m) in film rights sales.

Within this, the Budget airline Air Asia has laid on a special Kabali flight from Bangalore to Chennai, featuring Rajinikanth's favourite food. The special flight was expected to carry 180 Rajinikanth fans to watch his film on the day of its release.
