The Mumbai Police's Crime Branch has started the process to bring back Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of notorious criminal Lawrence Bishnoi, from the United States. Anmol is wanted in a shooting case outside actor Salman Khan's home. A special court has issued a warrant for Anmol's arrest, and the police are waiting for documents to complete the extradition procedures. They will then send a formal proposal to the government for further action. Authorities have also issued an international notice for Anmol's arrest. The extradition process began after the US informed the police about his presence there, as he was previously believed to be in Canada. India's anti-terror agency has added Anmol to its most-wanted list and announced a reward for his capture. The Bishnoi gang, known for the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022, came back into the spotlight after the shooting incident outside Salman Khan's residence.

The incident was marked by a series of threats made in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi, in relation to the 1998 blackbuck hunting case. Lawrence Bishnoi, Anmol Bishnoi, and Canada-based gangster Goldie Brar were identified as the accused in the shooting case. In a nine-minute speech, Anmol had encouraged the shooters, telling them they were about to "make history," according to the police's chargesheet. The Bishnoi gang is also under investigation for the murder of politician Baba Siddique, who was known to be close to Salman Khan, last month. In 2022, the Bishnoi brothers and others were accused of being involved in a conspiracy to raise funds and recruit young people for "terrorist activities" in Delhi and other parts of the country.
