In a harsh criticism of the Congress-RJD partnership in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated today that his mother faced insults during a rally hosted by the Opposition alliance and claimed this disrespect affected all mothers and sisters. "At an RJD-Congress event in Bihar, my mother was attacked with harsh words. This disrespect is not only aimed at my mother, but at every mother and sister throughout India. I understand your pain just as I feel it after hearing this," the Prime Minister expressed after inaugurating the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited to offer easy financing to female business owners in Bihar.

While speaking to around 20 lakh women through video conferencing, Prime Minister Modi reflected on his late mother, Heeraben Modi, who faced poverty while raising him and his siblings. "Even when mother was unwell, she kept working hard. She saved every little bit to buy us clothes. There are millions of such mothers in our nation. A mother's status is greater than that of any deity," he remarked.

"The insults directed at my mother on a Congress-RJD platform were not only aimed at her but at millions of mothers and sisters. Those born into wealthy families cannot understand the hardships faced by a struggling mother and her child. These privileged individuals believe that power in Bihar is their birthright. However, you have chosen the son of a needy mother and made him a public servant. The political elites (a term the Prime Minister uses to critique political families in the Opposition) cannot accept this," he continued, taking aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav, both of whom belong to political families. "They have a long history of insulting me. They label me as lowly, refer to me as dirt from a gutter, a snake, and now they are calling me 'you'," the Prime Minister noted, pointing out Mr Gandhi's use of the informal 'tu' when addressing him at a rally.

A widely shared video from Darbhanga district in Bihar captured young people shouting offensive remarks against the Prime Minister while showing images of Mr Gandhi and Mr Yadav on stage. A number of Congress supporters were seen holding party flags near the event. Following the release of the video on social media, the BJP called it a new low in politics. "This has crossed every line of respect, hatred, and poor behavior. This is such a grave error that even if Rahul and Tejashwi were to apologize a thousand times, the people of Bihar will not forgive them. It is incredibly disgraceful," the BJP stated on X. Senior Congress member Pawan Khera claimed that BJP "agents" infiltrated the Congress event to create a political uproar with their insults. "They are frustrated by our campaign. They want to shift the focus away from us." Leaders from Congress and the RJD emphasized that Mr Gandhi and Mr Yadav were not present when the insults were hurled.
