A 17-year-old high school student was shot dead by her mother in a case of what seems to be attempted murder-suicide. On Monday morning Chetana Guduru, a student at Seminole High School in Orlando, Florida, was found critically wounded lying in her mother's bed. The teenager died after a few hours at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

The woman, Sujatha Guduru, was lying near to the bed with a gunshot wound in her chest. Sujatha survived but is still hospitalized. The 44-year-old woman has been booked for  first-degree murder and remains guarded at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she is recuperating, said  Oviedo police. When Sujatha recovers she will be shifted to the Orange County Jail, after that in most probability the accused would be handed over to Seminole County Jail.

According to police record Sujatha had the murder-suicide plan for quite some time (few weeks ago) and got the .38-caliber revolver for the purpose a fortnight ago. The woman even sent an email to her brother, Prasad Chittaluru, of her plan, but no reason was offered. It was he who rushed to their Farmingham Court home in the Waverlee Woods and found both of them with gunshot wounds, following which he made an emergency 911 call.

At that time, Chetana's father, Rao Guduru, was in Atlanta and drove home following the ill-fated incident.
