South Indian superstar Rajinikanth’s Lingaa movie distributors and theatre owners decided to protest in a different way in front of actor’s Chennai residence along with other venues.
The Distributors and theatre owners are saying that they have suffered huge losses because of poor response to the movie. Distributors from Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari and other parts of the State, including the north and south Arcot regions, have demanded the actor’s intervention to save their lives.
“We distributed Lingaa with the faith that the film will do well. But, the movie flopped and most small distributors and also cinema hall owners in various districts suffered huge losses. However, the producer and initial distributors made profits of not less than Rs. 100 crores,” said Tiruchi and Tanjore distributor Singaravelan.
He said that their request for an ex-gratia of Rs. 35 crore was declined a few days ago by the producer and the actor’s representative. Following their protest plan they reportedly agreed to reimburse only 10 percent of the losses registered.
The victims are planning to start their protest of beg on Tuesday.
