Music maestro Ilayaraja raises his voice against the FM and television channels for playing his popular songs without his consent. The composer said that he holds rights on all his songs.

He alleged that the FM and TV channels have no right to use his works without his or Producers' Council permission. “I hold the rights to all my songs. The FM channels and others have to buy the rights from me. I am planning to share the money with the producers who made the investment and with singers and lyricists,” he said.

His decision to obstruct the FM, TV and Internet channels free usage of his popular hits, raising new doubts and becoming worrisome for the entertainment mediums, which fed on those popular things. It is also logic to get money for legendary works even after retirement from the field. As for as the movies are concerned, the channels are paying fees to the producers or appropriate authorities, but not for music works.
