South Indian actress Navya Nair, seems clarifying her controversial words which are favouring brothels in the society. She earlier had posted some lines, which were against sexual assaults and the causes, she also came across the “If it is appropriate to our culture, tradition and morality then government should think about it.” Immediately following “Some say that having more brothels will be a solution to this issue.” The linking has been interpreted by media as pro-brothels comments.

She again has chosen the same platform facebook to clarify the statement. ‘I feel pity for the media house that published my statement without understanding it. I did not advocate for brothels,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

She also asked the readers to read again her controversial comments, “My statement was this: ‘In our country cases of sexual assault are increasing, culprits are not getting adequate punishment. I have seen many discussions about this issue on TV channels. Some say that having more brothels will be a solution to this issue. If it is appropriate to our culture, tradition and morality then government should think about it. Some blame the woman’s dressing style for assaults, but that cannot be cited as reason. We should have personal freedom to dress, but we should consider the circumstances while dressing.’

According her explanation, she has not done anything wrong, and she is not ready for any controversies. “If my opinion has hurt anyone please forgive me,” she wrote in the Facebook post. The actress has written her opinion in Malayalam Language.

The well established Malayalam actress had good presence in Kannada, and Tamil cine industry. Her recent movie, Drishya in Kannada got good applauds for her role. Her comments can be interpreted in multiple ways, according to some experts.
