A new legal request has emerged from Sangeetha Sornalingam, wife of actor and politician Thalapathy Vijay, during their active divorce situation. In this request, Sangeetha, who is 51, is asking for protection regarding where she lives and for financial support. In her legal documents, Sangeetha, a citizen of the United Kingdom who claims she does not have her own place to live in India, wants to stay in their shared home or be given another place to stay. The request also includes a demand for "fair and appropriate permanent alimony. " Furthermore, it accuses Vijay, also 51, of warning her not to go to court. The document states that "Vijay made it known that she would not be allowed to live in the marital home if she decided to seek a legal separation. " As a result, Sangeetha has gone to court for temporary help to ensure she is not without housing during the legal process. This filing became public after Vijay appeared at a wedding reception with actress Trisha Krishnan, which was held for the son of film producer Kalpathi Suresh and Meenakshi. Reports indicate that Vijay and Trisha arrived at the event together in the same vehicle and were seen leaving together as well.

In her most recent request, Sangeetha is asking the court to let her stay in their marital home until Vijay "provides similar alternative accommodation that matches his status. " The filing argues that since she currently lacks her own living space in India, not providing her with a place to stay could leave her homeless while the case is ongoing. In addition to asking for housing rights, the request also includes a demand for "fair and reasonable permanent alimony" as part of the current legal case. By making this request, Sangeetha hopes to secure her right to a place to live while the court processes the divorce case. Previously, Sangeetha had submitted a request to divorce Vijay after being married for 26 years. The couple tied the knot in August 1999 and has two children named Jason Sanjay and Divya Shasha. Her request claims that Vijay was involved with another woman who is an actress. According to her documents, Sangeetha found out about this alleged relationship in 2021.

The documents state that even after Vijay promised her that the affair would stop, it apparently continued. It also claims that Vijay began to leave Sangeetha out of his social and work life. The papers further allege that Vijay traveled abroad and went to public events with the actress, sharing photos of these outings on social media. Sangeetha stated that these posts caused her and their children embarrassment. She cited infidelity and cruelty as reasons for the divorce under the Special Marriage Act of 1954. She maintains that his alleged actions and the resulting public controversies caused her substantial emotional distress. The district court is currently reviewing the case, and the decision on the matter has not yet been made. Sangeetha, who is the daughter of a Tamil businessman, was reportedly a fan of Vijay before their marriage.
