As the mercury soars up and we somersault into the searing, scorching summer months, it's time to do a diet check. Summers are all about gorgeous, water-rich fruits and vegetables. So going raw is the best thing to do at this time of the year. Never mind if you find it hard to stomach fresh fruit or any vegetable salads, eating light and consuming more liquid will help you stay fit and fight the heat better. Today we list five foods you should clearly stay away from during the summer months. Take a note and beat the heat!

Spices: No matter how tempted you are, it would do you a world of good to stay away from that phaal curry or jerk chicken. Consuming spicy hot food in summer will only heat up your body, leaving you soaked in your own pool of sweat. Not a great things to do during summer months!

Rich non-vegetarian fare: We know how much you love your steak, tandooris and seafood fare. But ladies and gentleman, switching these high-protein food for something light and easily digestible will only make your life easier in summer months. If you don't wish to get stuck in a loo battling diarrhea, consume your meat with care.

Oily junk food: Burgers with meat patties, fries and other oily fare are a complete no-no during the summer months!

Tea and coffee: You might not do really much without your daily cup of Java. But drinking tea and coffee often will heat up your body as well as dehydrate it. So chek your intake.

Avoid sauces: Gooey, cheesy, garlic sauce can melt your hearts. But it can also leave you feeling bloated and sluggish. Some sauces contain MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) and salt that can impact your body metabolism in the adverse way. So shun them!
