Does your eyes water when ragweed blooms? Does your tongue itch after eating cantaloupes? More than a third of allergy sufferers undergo cross-reactions from substances in select foods that are chemically akin to airborne allergens that triggers tingling, swelling and itchiness in tongue, mouth and throat. Sure cooking helps lessen the effects of them, but avoiding the items altogether is the safest bet. Some of the foods you need to be really beware of if you are susceptible to allergies are:
If ragweed pollen makes you sneeze, stay away from bananas, cantaloupes, honeydews, watermelons, cucumbers, zucchini, chamomile tea, and sunflower seeds.
If birch pollen irritates you, then keep away from apples, apricots, cherries, kiwis, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums, tomatoes, carrots, celery, green peppers, parsnips, peas, potatoes, anise, caraway, cumin, dill, fennel, parsley, almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, sunflower seeds, and walnuts.
If grass pollen makes you go "aaatchoooooo" watch out for kiwis, melons, oranges, tomatoes, and celery.
