For the India vs Australia Test series, Cheteshwar Pujara has been replaced by Rohit Sharma as the Vice Caption for the Indian Test team.

Virat Kohli was the captain of the team. He is now on paternity leave after the first test match in Adelaide and Ajinkya Rahane has been the captain for the team currently.

According to senior officials of the Indian team, the Rohit-Pujara arrangement is to just get the team going until the former team arrives again. The source also stated that since Rohit had already been India’s long-time what ball vice-captain, it is only imperative that Rohit be a part of the team’s leadership group while Virat in absent.

Rohit Sharma had just finished his 14 days of self- quarantine in Sydney. He had joined the team on Wednesday and was received with a warm welcome by all. He had begun training since Thursday.

Rohit Sharma has scored 2142 runs in 32 Tests. He has six hundreds with his best score being 212 against sSouth Africa in 2019.

Some viewers are happy with the replacement has Rohit Sharma has captaincy experience while some believe the decision to be totally unfair and biased as they believe Pujara has more experience as a test cricket and can guide the team well during this series.

The Indian team is leaving for Sydney on Jan 5th to play the New Year’s test match which will start from Jan 7th onwards.
