The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set a new record by offering an impressive cash prize of INR 131 crore to the Indian cricket team for winning the T20 World Cup 2026. Previously, when the Indian team took home the T20 World Cup in 2024 held in Barbados under Rohit Sharma's leadership, the Board had declared a cash reward of INR 125 crore. As Suryakumar Yadav's squad made history in Ahmedabad by being the first to defend their title, the BCCI announced an even bigger prize, surpassing the record established two years back. In an official statement, the BCCI said, "The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declared a cash reward of INR 131 crore for Team India after their successful run in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. India claimed the esteemed trophy by beating New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, making history by being the first team ever to hold onto the ICC Men's T20 World Cup title. This win also makes India the first team to take home the ICC Men's T20 World Cup three times, further solidifying their status as one of the most accomplished teams in the tournament's history. "

The Board extends its congratulations to the players, support staff, and selectors for this remarkable achievement and wishes them ongoing success moving forward. " Suryakumar Yadav's team also received a notable cash prize from the International Cricket Council (ICC). For their win in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian team was awarded a total of USD 3 million from the global governing body of the sport, which equals about INR 27.48 crore. This amount was part of a record-setting tournament prize fund totaling USD 13.5 million, which is a 20% increase from the last tournament. Besides this payment for winning the final, the team earned performance bonuses of around USD 31,154 (approximately INR 28.6 lakh) for each match they won in the group and Super 8 stages of the tournament.
