Xiomi has a bulk of sub-brands which consists of Redmi, PoCo, Mito, CC, Black Shark, and the list continues. It has been announced today that Xiomi is spinning off POCO as a standalone company which will be running independently and start making its own market strategy.
The POCO sub-brand was created in 2018 by the Xiaomi and the move of separating into an independent brand is made after a top executive of POCO, Jai Mani who is also a former Googler along with few other founding and core members had left the sub-brand. It has been insisted by the company that the smartphone which has been launched by POCO had been successful which was launched in 50 markets which costs around $300.
POCO brand was created by Xiaomi to launch high-end, premium smartphones which would compete with the smartphones of OnePlus and Samsung.
Manu Kumar Jain, VP of Xiomi has stated that POCO had grown into its own identity in a very short span of time as the only smartphone that was launched under POCO, POCO F1 seemed to be a very popular phone across the user groups and therefore it is observed to be the right time for POCO to operate on its own.
Xiaomi spokesperson told TechCrunch that POCO is an independent company here after and no details regarding the structural functions of POCO were revealed.
Though the Redmi brand had also been spun off by Xiaomi a year ago, the devices from both the companies seemed to be closely related. However, we know that the Poco brand isn’t dead as there are plenty of people who are eagerly waiting for another model under the brand Poco, Poco F2.
The announcement had been welcomed by Alvin Tse, the current Pocophone Global Head, on his twitter handle.
