Sony will introduce a new Xperia smartphone next week, as announced by the Japanese tech company on Friday. However, the specific name of the model has not yet been disclosed. The new phone is expected to feature a triple rear camera setup. The teaser also hints at how the camera lenses will be arranged, resembling the leaked design of the rumored Sony Xperia 1 VIII. Recently, the device appeared on an online shopping site, showing important information about its specifications, features, and price. This phone is anticipated to replace last year’s Xperia 1 VII, which has a 6.5-inch full-HD+ screen. In a message posted on X, the Tokyo-based company revealed that it will hold an event in Japan on May 13 at 11 am local time (7:30 pm IST) to introduce the new Sony Xperia smartphone. The video announcement on YouTube includes the slogan “Next ONE is coming,” confirming that this device will be part of the Xperia 1 series.
Furthermore, a specific microsite for the device is now active on the company's website, indicating that the phone will have a triple rear camera system. The camera lenses are displayed in an inverted upside-down "L" shape, matching the leaked design of the supposed Sony Xperia 1 VIII. Nonetheless, the company has not confirmed the name of the upcoming smartphone in the Xperia 1 series. With the launch happening in less than a week, more information is likely to be shared soon.
Recently, the Sony Xperia 1 VIII was seen on the Amazon website in Germany, revealing its main specifications, features, and pricing details. The device is expected to be available for purchase in the EU starting June 26, and it will come in Garnet Red, Graphite Black, and Lolite Silver color choices. Additionally, the new Sony Xperia 1 series phone is likely to have a price tag of EUR 1,868.99 (approximately Rs. 2,08,000) and GBP 1,728 (around Rs. 2,22,000) in Germany and the UK, respectively. However, these prices also include the cost of the Sony WH1000XM6 wireless headphones.
Regarding specifications, the Sony Xperia 1 VIII is expected to come with a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ OLED display, offering up to a 120Hz refresh rate. It may include a triple rear camera system, centered around a main camera with a 24mm focal length, along with an ultrawide camera and a telephoto camera.
