Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants the "call drops" issue to be fixed urgently as it would directly impact the common man. On Monday, Modi chaired a high-level meeting where he reviewed digital and rural infrastructure progress along with connectivity. At this meeting, PM who was apprised of the mobile connectivity status across India made the directions.

An official statement by the Prime Minister's Office said, "The Prime Minister expressed serious concern over the issue of call drops and asked officials as to what steps are being taken to address this problem, which, he said, directly affects the common man,”

"He directed that steps be taken urgently to resolve the problem, and also to ensure that the problems in voice connectivity do not extend to data connectivity in future.”

Officials were even asked to explore probability of using available resources like railways to extend mobile connectivity in unconnected and remote areas. Information on preparations for providing electricity to every village of the country was also sought by PM.

"The Prime Minister said that with enough funds now being provided for infrastructure creation, the onus is on the ministries concerned to ensure these outlays are converted into proportionate outcomes," the statement said.
