If this piece of intensely hued, pear-shaped diamond fail to blow you away, it's price tag certainly will!

The biggest splashy orange colored diamond to ever go under the hammer was sold in Geneva for an astronomical (£22million) $35.5 million, a world record.

This extraordinary pear-shaped orange diamond, which was auctioned off yesterday, boasts 14.82-carats, which means it fetched an astonishing £1.5million ($2.4million) per carat. That's a world record price per carat for any colored diamond sold at any auction so far.

François Curiel, the international head of Christie's jewelry department, said the it's record price puts it 'amongst the greatest pinks and blues, which are traditionally the most appreciated colored diamonds'.
