As India gears up to celebrate "Vinayaka Chaturthi" this month, in some other parts of the world, it's holi time. That's right!

It was a kaleidoscope of colors and hundreds of Spaniards and tourists in Madrid city broke into a colorful revelry to celebrate their version of the traditional Hindu festival.

More than 300 revellers gathered at the Plaza de Agustin de Lara over the weekend to toss handful of colored powders on each other, even as they jigged to popular Bollywood holi numbers. It was indeed a sight that could have baffled any Indian to re-think if it was still the Indian spring.

Although, the event was organized by Hindu immigrants, the majority of the revellers were young, scantily clad Spaniards, who were thrilled to see a colorful version of their Le Tomatina. No wonder, the air was soon filled with a rainbow of reds, blues, greeens, yellows soon.

Some turned up in all white dressed, others went shirtless to turn their torsos into canvases, as they partied on.

In India and Nepal, Holi is celebrated in March, to mark the beginning of Spring. However, the Mediterranean version of it was purely a festive one than spiritual.

This was second time that Holi has been held in Madrid. Similar Holi festivals are held in Barcelona and London ever year.
