Even since Barbie dolls were launched there are various versons of this plastic doll. But the latest version of this popular doll has left Hindus angered.

Argentine artists Marianela Perelli and Pool Paolini have designed Barbie in the avatar of Hindu goddess Kali. The artists will showcase Kali-Barbie at an exhibition series called "Barbie - The Plastic Religion".

During the exhibition, which will open on October 11 in Buenos Aires, the artists will showcase several versions of Barbie, and her male companion Ken.

The artists' website shows a photograph of the "Kali-Barbie", which shows the doll holding up a severed head. Besides the toy box has a symbol of Om and "Jai Kali Ma" printed on it in Hindi .

The Kali version of this popular doll range has created a furore among practitioners of the Hindu religion.

Hindu cleric and notable interfaith leader Rajan Zed said Hindus are happy that the art world loves to immerse in Hinduism. However, the Hindus want their religion to be taken seriously and with respect. It should not be for refashioning Hinduism concepts and symbols for personal agendas.

Rajan Zed categorically stated that creating an avtar of Barbie Kali is simply improper. It's wrong and out of place to make a Kali-version of Barbie.

Earlier Barbie and Ken were depicted as Virgin Mary and a crucified Jesus Christ and other saints. At that time also the depiction had attracted sharp comments from the followers of Christianity.
