Commuters felt angry over the disruption caused by the Central Railway's Suburban service in the peak hours today morning. Technical problem on central line caused this problem, Passengers were not able to tolerate the delay as this the problem they have been experiencing for last 3 consecutive days. And angry protesters torched two vehicles and pelted stones on the railway property in protest of malfunctioning of the service outside the Diwa Railway station of Thane District near Mumbai.
Daily 5 million commuters use the Mumbai’s Central Line and 4 million use Western line for the transportation between working places and homes. Without the Suburban service it is highly impossible for the people to reach their working places, this made thousands of passengers to follow the violence against the delay.
Following the incident motormen (loco pilots) decided to halt the service in protest of the commuters action on them. Reportedly some motormen also injured in the violence process. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu was informed the situation and asked the authorities concerned to resolve the issue. Minister in a tweet said that this problem is of long pending and Suburban Railways was neglected and Drawing up the plans to revamp this is the top priority.
At a stage police resorted to lathi charge to control the situation, the commuters dispersed from the location then. And motormen resumed to their work after assurance of security from authorities.
