The militant outfit Islamic State (IS) has uploaded an audio message in Bengali, which is keeping Intelligence agencies on their toes primarily because of a huge Indian population speaking Bengali.

According to the officials, the title of the message is Caliphate is Back The tape message of 47-minute-long has appeared to have been made for Bangladesh. It is exhorting young men to join “jihad” and “attain martyrdom if not victory.”

A senior Home Ministry official said, “A few Bangladeshi men of foreign origin have joined the IS ranks and are said to be in Syria and Iraq. This message was most probably uploaded by them to connect to the Bangladesh audience. We don’t think it can have any impact in India. But we are still keeping a watch.”

On 27 October 2015, the tape of nashid (chants) in Bengali was posted by the IS on the media platform of the terror outfit i.e. Al Hayat Media Centre.

The IS presence was denied by Bangladesh IS on its soil. But, the group itself recently claimed responsibility for killing a Japanese national and an Italian in that country.

It was asserted by the official that there is no information till now on IS attack on India. Meanwhile, an advisory was issued by the Home Ministry to all the States in the wake of Paris attacks from the outfit that killed 129 people. The advisory intended to “expand the arc of high profile terror actions beyond the core area of Syria and Iraq.”

The advisory dated November 16 said: “Though the IS has not been able to establish any significant presence in India, its success in radicalising some youth, attracting certain sections of the local population or the Indian diaspora to physically participate in its activities, or the possibility of piggy-backing on terrorist groups operating in India, have opened up the possibility of IS-sponsored terrorist action on Indian territory,”

 “In this regard, the security arrangements for the diplomatic interests of France, U.S., U.K., Germany, Russia, Australia, Turkey and Israel may be particularly reviewed and strengthened.”
