A women in Hyderabad, named Purnima, slit the throat of her 24-day old son using a shaving blade and allow him to die on the street. The lady’s first child was a boy who was still born, she then had a boy who is five years now. The 30 year old gave birth to a boy 24 days back, while she was confident of having a baby girl. She wanted to give away the new born to childless couple or relatives. As her family opposed this, she slipped into depression.

On Tuesday night, her husband Sridhar Raju received a call from her saying that she was attacked by the robbers who even attacked the infant before snatching her gold mangalsutram. As he rushed to the spot, found the unconscious baby with Purnima.

According to Alwal assistant commissioner of policeSyed Rafeeq, Purnima said, "Two bike-borne thieves sprayed something on my face. I fell unconscious and when I regained my senses, my mangalsutra was missing and the boy lying on the street." By the time, they rushed to hospital, the boy was dead.

Police were informed about the death of the infant and took purnima’s statement. An officer said, "She did not cry at all. There was no blood on the road where she said the incident happened. After the post-mortem, the forensic expert said the injury on the boy's throat was caused by a sharp-edged weapon. So we grilled Purnima further on Wednesday afternoon."

Police charged a murder case on the lady.
