Gurudwara vandalized with racist graffiti in Alberta!

A Gurudwara in Calgary city of Canada was spray-painted with "racist" graffiti and profanity by some unidentified people, a media report said. The incident is being investigating by the police as a hate crime.

The unidentified persons made the graffiti around six locations in and around the building of the Gurudwara, located in 81st Street in Calgary city of Alberta province.

The Calgary Herald reported, according to the police, a hate crime coordinator and a graffiti coordinator have been called in to investigate the vandalism.

The “ racist vandalism" of the Sikh Society of Calgary was condemned by the World Sikh Organization (WSO) of Canada. It also asked community members to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity around Gurudwaras to the authorities.

The organization said that, "The racist graffiti included a swastika and profanity."  Tejinder Singh Sidhu, WSO vice president for Alberta, and Calgary resident, said that, "While we are saddened to see the racist vandalism of the Sikh Society of Calgary, it comes at a time when we are seeing racist, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic vandalism in several places across Canada".

Sidhu said in a statement that, "These deplorable acts are motivated by ignorance and all Canadians must stand in solidarity to ensure that racist and discriminatory rhetoric is loudly rejected."
