Golden Chick restaurant under fire to refuse a Police officer

The Golden Chick restaurant chain that gives back to the community, including raising money for the local police department, is under fire.

Reportedly an employee refused service to an officer in the restaurant, the incident occurred last week at a store in central Oak Cliff on Kiest Boulevard. According to CBSDFW.com

The employee said to the officer that the restaurant does not serve your kind here referring to the police. After the incident protest began in social media websites, which included promises of a boycott from the law enforcement community.

As complaints about the incident were put on Golden Chick’s Facebook page, the restaurant responded that they were extremely disappointed with the exchange that occurred with a Golden Chick employee and a Dallas police officer, and immediately terminated the employee.

They also said that the incident does not reflect the restaurant’s pride in serving the Dallas Police Department and all the police departments throughout the communities where the restaurants are located.

Director of the Golden Chick, Ike Ugokwe said that his restaurant has donated hundreds of school supplies to students; they have given dinner boxes to homeless and also offer discounts to police officers on duty.

Ugokew said that all those things that they had worked over the years to build can be seen crashing down because of one simple comment.

President Michael Mata of Dallas Police Association said that this was an "unfortunate isolated incident," and the restaurant has always been a supportive community partner of the police.
