Indian jet sent for Mehul Choksi returns back

Indian businessman Mehul Choksi fled from the country after involving in a bank scam of Rs 13,500 crores along with his nephew Nirav Modi. Nirav is caught in London and the process of extradition back to India is happening. Mehul Choksi has been residing in Antigua and Barbuda since he got a citizenship there in 2018. He went missing and was found in the neighboring country Dominica. The Indian government sent a private jet along with all the needed documents to Dominica to extradite Mehul Choksi back to the country. The jet was sent last week and is in the airport for a week. The private jet has flown out of the island at 8:10 PM local time on Thursday. The officials who were on board to Dominica returned back to the country.

The team that returned back to the country said that they were unaware of the final destination of the private jet. Mehul Choksi holds the citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda and was detained in Dominica. A top court in the country denied bail for Mehul Choksi and he was sent for medical examination. The court denied bail and is sent for judicial remand for two weeks for his illegal entry into the country. A habeas corpus petition was filed by the government of Antigua and Mehul Choksi's lawyer and this is adjourned. The Indian government is making all the efforts to bring Mehul Choksi back to the country and the legal process is currently going on.
