India is going to be the second country after the USA with the biggest road network. BJP minister Nitin Gadkari said, before BJP, India used have 91,287 km of road in which only 18,371 km are of four lanes. Now it has been increased to 46,657 Km. With the increase of four lanes, the government is receiving a toll tax of Rs 41,342 Cr from Rs 4,770 in 2013-14.
BJP government is expected to collect a toll tax of Rs 1.30Lakh Cr by the end of 2030 as part of the new Greenfield highways development.
Nitin Gadkari as part of BJP’s 9 years of governance on Tuesday explained to media how the roads are being developed in the country. He also explained about the Green Field Highways. With the new Greenfield Highways, the distance between Hyderabad and Delhi will decrease up to 300 km.

Gadkari gives the details of road works, which are as followed: From Surat – Nasik – Ahemadabad – Solapur to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kanya Kumari, Thiruvananthapuram and also many roadways are under construction. Surat – Solapur road is being built with an expenditure of Rs 25 thousand Cr, which is about 719km. 11 per cent of the road has already been completed. Besides this Solapur – Kurnool – Chennai highway of 340km, which is being constructed on an expenditure of Rs 11 thousand Cr has completed its work upto 13 per cent. Rayapur- Vizag road is 465km and work has been completed upto 34 per cent, this is being made on the expenditure of Rs 17 thousand Cr. 21 per cent of Nagpur- Vijayawada road work is also completed. Indore – Hyderabad road is the only highway which has finished more than 50 per cent of its work. 68 per cent of work has been completed between Indore – Hyderabad. All the roads are expected to be operational in coming five years.
