As Defence Minister Rajnath Singh started the discussion about Operation Sindoor in Parliament, security forces achieved a major success today by killing three Pakistani terrorists in a confrontation close to Srinagar. Among them, two were part of the attack in Pahalgam where 26 innocent people lost their lives.

Suleiman Shah, a terrorist from Lashkar-e-Taiba, was recognized as the leader behind the terror attack on April 22 that alarmed the country. Security sources confirmed that he was one of the terrorists eliminated in this morning’s confrontation. Today’s mission, called Operation Mahadev, also took down two more terrorists: Abu Hamza and Yasir. Yasir is also thought to have been involved in the Pahalgam killings. The Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police collaborated in this operation today. Suleiman had previously served in the Pakistan Army and was also known by the name Hashim Moosa. Following the attack in Baisaran Valley, Jammu and Kashmir Police had announced a reward of 20 lakh rupees for anyone providing information about Suleiman.

The official social media account of the Indian Army's Chinar Corps had earlier announced that security forces initiated Operation Mahadev in Lidwas. The Army reported, "Three terrorists have been neutralised in a fierce firefight. The operation is ongoing," indicating that the mission is still in progress. It has been reported that all the terrorists were considered to be "high-value" targets. According to available information, security forces commenced the operation in the Mulnar area of Harwan based on intelligence tips. Additional support has been sent to the location, and search operations are in progress. Footage reveals numerous weapons found in a hideout deep in the forest. Reports indicate that a carbine, AK-47 rifles, 17 rifle grenades, and other firearms and ammunition were seized during the encounter. Security forces have reason to believe that the terrorists were planning a significant attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
