Newly appointed CBI chief Rishi Kumar Shukla takes charge today. Shukla, a IPS Officer of 1983 batch from Madhya Pradesh cadre who has taken charge as new CBI chief was Former Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police. He is currently the chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Police housing Corporation. He has taken charge of CBI Director when CBI officials were detained by Kolkata Police only yesterday. On Sunday, CBI offiials who went to question Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar in Chit Fund scam were arrested by Kolkata Police but later they were released. Supreme Court of India gives stern warning to kolkata Police commissioner today after CBI’s Petition. Kolkata police Commissioner Rajeev kumar was central figure in constitutional and political crisis in yesterday’s face Off between WB CM Mamata Banerjee and central government. Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said “If Kolkata Police Commissioner even remotely thinks of destroying evidence, bring the material before this Court. We will come down so heavily on him that he will regret.” After the CBI complained to top court that police Commissioner is not co-operating in the investigation. CBI also suspected that the police officer is destroying the evidence. Solicitor general Tushar Mehta told the bench led by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi that “The commissioner was served summons four times but he still did not cooperate.” The judges of SC decided to hear the CBI plea on Tuesday and asked Solicitor General to file an Affidavit listing all its points. On, Sunday political crisis broke down when CBI officials went to kolkata Police Commissioner residence to question him in alleged Chit Fund Scam. But some of the CBI officials were arrested by kolkata police officers for few hours, but they were released later in evening. Soon West Bengal Police surrounded CBI Office in Kolkata. However, they were soon left the area as CRPF forces taken control of the premises. But West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that CBI officials came at police commissioner’s residence as part of secret operation. Delhi’s Patiala House Court Grants Interim Protection from Arrest To Robert Vadra In Money Laundering Case till February 16. In a Big relief to the middle class people Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said that there will Full tax rebate for the individuals having Income of Rs 5 lakh per annum. Those having an annual income of Rs 5 lakh per annum will get full rebate in Income-tax said Piyush Goyal announced during budget speech. “Individual taxpayers having annual income up to Rs5 lakh will get a full tax exemption and therefore will not be required to pay any income tax” He further added, “Even people who are having gross income up to Rs6.50 lakh may not be required to pay income tax if they make investments in provident Funds, Specified savings, Insurance etc.” “This will provide a tax benefit of Rs 18,500 crore to an estimated three crore middle-class taxpayers comprising self-employed, small business, small traders, salary earners, pensioners and senior citizens,”he said. Other important announcements are favourable loan terms for small businesses, farm loan waiver and even direct cash transfers to small farmers. The Finance Minister said it will send Rs. 6,000 to small farmers directly into their bank accounts in a scheme that will be funded 100 per cent by the centre. Activist Anna Hazare begins his hunger strike on Wednesday over delay in the appointment of Lokpal and passage of the Lokayukta Act in the Maharashtra state. In the Morning Anna Hazare visted Padmavati Temple to offer prayers in his village Ralegan Siddhi, Maharashtra. Speaking to PTI he said he welcomed the Cabinet’s decision of Maharashtra to bring the office of state chief minister under the jurisdiction of Lokayukta. “However, the strike will continue till the government fulfils promises they made before coming to power about passage of Lokayukta Act, appointment of Lokpal and to tackle farmers’ issues,” he said. Docters conducted a basic health check up of Hazare. One of his aide said, “Hazare has now begun his fast as he is disappointed with the state government for not appointing the Lokayukta.” On Monday, Anna Hazare had written a letter to CM Devendra Fadnavis informing about he would launch he agitation. Girish Mahajan, Minister who has been acting as an representative between the government and Hazare. On Tuesday urged the activist to cancel the agitation, claiming that almost all the demands made by him were fulfilled. Hazare said until the Lokayukta Act becomes reality would not call off the agitation. Anna Hazare has been demanding implement the Swaminathan Commission recommendations and also some electoral reforms apart from the appointment of lokpal at the center and Lokayukta in states. “It has been five years since the Lokpal Act was passed. Yet the Narendra Modi government has not appointed Lokpal.” “Lokayukta Act has not been passed in Maharashtra for four years,” Hazare observed in his letter dated January 28. “Nine months have passed, yet the demands have not been fulfilled. Hence, I will be on hunger strike in my village Ralegan Siddhi on January 30,” he had said in the letter. The Maharashtra government on Tuesday decided to bring the office of chief minister under the jurisdiction of Lokayukta. Hazare had welcomed the government’s decision. “I thank them on behalf of the people for taking the decision towards appointment of Lokayukta through a constitutional process.
