Amidst all the glam and glitz, it's sometimes easy to forget that even the superstars and megastars, often worshipped and idolized as demigods, are humans too and hence, are susceptible to illnesses of all kinds and capacity, just as lesser mortals like us.

Time and again, fans have been taken aback by various reports of illnesses and surgeries of their favorite stars as well as inspired by the heroic fight they had put up to bounce back. Manisha Koirala, Lisa Ray, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan are just a few starry examples of that. But the list doesn't end there. Dharmendra:

Did you know that the dashing he-man of Bollywood, Dharmendra had battled depression for 15 long years, before he took to drinking and became a chronic alcoholic? Apparently, he was at the peak of his career when the blues hit him big time.

Amitabh Bachchan:

He might be the 'Shahenshah' of Bollywood, but that doesn't make him invincible or immune to diseases, for that  matter. Apparently, the superstar is suffering from a rare terrible disease called the Myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune neuromuscular diseases that causes muscle weakness and fatigue for 30 years now. Besides that, the actor also suffers from liver cirrhosis.

Salman Khan:

Salman Khan suffers from something called as the suicide disease. And no, no matter what the disease might sound like, it doesn't make the actor prone to self-killing or mutilation. In fact, it's the other name for an utterly painful facial nerve disorder called trigeminal neuralgia. Salman Khan has been suffering from this painful condition for over seven years now and had undergone a surgery recently to diminish his sufferings.

Rajinikanth:

No matter how god-like you deem him to be, even megastar Rajnikant is no immune to pain and illnesses. The Thalaiva suffers from numerous kidney ailments and s believed to have undergone a renal transplant too.
