Morris Garages, known as MG, has gained popularity among car buyers in India due to its expanding lineup of electric vehicles, including the MG Windsor and Comet. The brand made its debut in India in 2019 with the Hector SUV, which is set for an update. This upgraded version is scheduled for release this month and is anticipated to showcase new styling and additional features. Recently, the SUV was seen testing on public roads, covered by a net tarp instead of conventional camouflage, suggesting that its launch is approaching. New spy images have shown the updated MG Hector undergoing highway trials, and what stands out is its unique covering. Instead of the usual heavy camo wraps, MG chose a quirky green-netted tarp secured with plastic ropes, making the test vehicle easy to identify while still trying to hide specific design elements, creating interest about the alterations underneath.

The captured video reveals various changes. A fresh set of alloy wheels is visible, keeping the usual five-spoke design, but with a new look compared to the previous model. Near the end of the video, the rear bumper is shown, featuring what looks like a redesigned skid plate. Some minor adjustments to the tailgate are also predicted, although the overall side view mostly stays the same, with most of the existing sheet metal from the current Hector. More significant changes are likely at the front. While the LED daytime running lights appear to maintain their current design, the bumper is expected to undergo notable style changes, though specifics remain hidden under the tarp. The grille is also likely to be revised, potentially giving the SUV a stronger and more contemporary appearance.

These updates indicate that MG is preparing a thoughtful refresh for the Hector, balancing old and new design features. The facelift aims to keep the SUV relevant in India's competitive mid-size market while preserving its strong identity. The refreshed MG Hector is projected to provide a more luxurious cabin experience with additional features and advanced technology. It is expected to keep the familiar 14-inch infotainment screen, but it should now be quicker and more responsive. MG plans to enhance its connected car features, building on the "Internet SUV" concept introduced at launch. The addition of ventilated rear seats may be part of the new features, in line with market trends. Moreover, a greater number of functions are likely to be available on the central screen, decreasing the dependence on physical buttons.

The updated MG Hector is anticipated to continue offering the same engine and transmission options as the previous model, featuring a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 141 hp and 250Nm of torque, along with a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 167 hp and 350Nm of torque.
