Although most eaters tend to head for the trash to cure your blues, happy to know that foods are actually healthy, ripe foods with nutrients, which not only helps you to forget everything you aspire in your life, but you also felt high and optimistic. Here is what you should load your plate if you want to lighten your mood.

PICK PROTEIN: Amino acids are big mood booster. They enhance the production of seratonin, a hormone that controls mood and appetite. Amino acids aren't naturally produced, so you need to stock up on protein rich foods to pump in enough amino acids. All meat and fish is high in protein, but unusual sources include lentils, Brussels sprouts and peanuts. These also contain the amino acid tryptophan, which has been found to help you sleep.

FEAST ON FISH: Eating oily fish will keep you happy and gay. Omega-3 oils found in cod, salmon and herring have been shown to relieve low moods and regulate cell function by improving brain cell connections. The more omega-3 in your blood, the more seratonin you will make and the happier you will be.

TOP UP ON B VITAMINS: Get a daily shot of vitamin B rich food to keep your nervous system running and shooting more and more 'happy hormones' to the brain. Load up on bananas, avocados, chicken, wholegrains and leafy green vegetables will help to replenish your stores.
