Think a fling can put a glow in your cheeks and smile on your dial. Not really, we fear!

A new study reveals that casual hook-ups can lead to grave psychological and emotional issues. So you should just get your flirt on and leave it at that. Yes, leave it at that! Not unless you want your fling with your F-buddy to lead you to serious consequences like suicide later.

Study results reveal that those who had had bedtime with someone they had know for a week or less suffered from higher levels of anxiety and depression.

Dr Sara Sandberg-Thoma, of Ohio State University and lead author of the study, said: 'Several studies have found a link between poor mental health and casual sex, but the nature of that association has been unclear. There's always been a question about which one is the cause and which is the effect.
This study provides evidence that poor mental health can lead to casual sex, but also that casual sex leads to additional declines in mental health.'

The study further revealed that teens with depressive symptoms were likely to hook up with unknown partners for casual sex more than others. Indulging in sex for sex's sake can totally topple of your mind's equanimity, leading to a decline in mental health over the years.
