Hollywood actor Robin Williams was found dead at his Northern California home on Monday. He was 63 at the time of his death. The Oscar-winning actor and comedian's death is suspected to be a case of suicide.
According to Marin County Sheriff's Office, Robin Williams' death was probably a suicide due to asphyxia. However, the coroner's office is still investigating the cause of death.
Robin Williams's wife Susan Schneider issued a statement confirming the death of her husband. Susan's statement said, "This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken."
Williams, a four-time Oscar nominee, won the Oscar Award for supporting actor in the 1997 film "Good Will Hunting". He portrayed the character of a fatherly therapist in the film.
The deceased actor had been going through severe depression, said his publicist Mara Buxbaum. Last month Williams had enrolled himself into a Minnesota rehabilitation center to help him maintain sobriety. At that timeWilliams' representatives had said he was not into drugs or alcohol. But had entered the center to "fine-tune and focus" his sobriety due to his longer-than-usual work schedule. Even in the past he had struggled with addiction.
The Sheriff's office reportedly got an emergency call around noon on Monday, reporting his unconsciousness. He was not breathing at his home near Tiburon, north of San Francisco, the phone call reported.
Williams is known for his frenetic style, which he introduced in the late 1970s TV series "Mork & Mindy".
Recently he starred in the comedy The Crazy Ones. He was nominated for a People's Choice Award for his role as an advertising executive in the movie. The comedy featured Sarah Michelle Gellar in the role of his daughter.
Williams also recently appeared in the film Angriest Man in Brooklyn, co-staring Mila Kunis, Melissa Leo and Peter Dinklage. His next film Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, the third instalment from the franchisee, was scheduled for release on December 19 via 20th Century Fox.
Hollywood is shocked and deeply grieved by the sudden death of Robin Williams.
