Lake Bell will direct the adaptation of 'Emperor’s Children'. The Claire Messud novel is being produced by Imagine Entertainment.
'Emperor's Children' will be the second venture of Lake Bell, who made her directorial debut with the acclaimed film 'In a World'.
Noah Baumbach has written the script for the project, which she was to direct at one point.
Claire Messud's novel is centred around twentysomethings based in New York. The book is a take on the liberal intellectual elite of New York. It tells the story of three unsuccessful late twentysomethings who are connected to the life of a famous journalist during the months before 9/11 and also after the incident. The entrance of two people's in this circle threatens to cause an upheaval.
The film is being produced by Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins.
Lake Bell made her debut as a director with 'In a World', which she had scripted and starred as well. The film won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
As an actress, Lake Bell appeared in 'The Coup', co-staring Owen Wilson and Pierce Brosnan. She also starred in 'Man Up' opposite Simon Pegg.
