'Shaadi Remix' has a heavy presence of Geetha's career as a litigator and mediator in the US. Ravindra worked in the field of mediation or “Alternative Dispute Resolution,” for more than 20 years. At present she works with International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the same capacity. Geetha has her base in Washington, DC as well as in Richmond, Virginia.
The book mainly delves on arranged marriages among Indian families in the US and the problems that couples go through. Her book is related to the evolution of the marriage system among the Indian community.
During her days of private practice Ravindra observed a recurring pattern of problems among Indian couples, reported americanbazaaronline.com.
She realized that what she knew was not known to others in the Indian community. So she decided to write a book on marriage issues among Indian families in US. Geetha wanted to write not only what she had witnessed during her practice but also the reasons why they were happening.
'Shaadi Remix' talks about the history of marriage in India. How it started, why it was arranged and also why it worked. But today the logic and the very reason for arranging marriages does not exist. She discusses some of the problems that Indian marriages can run into and then offers advice that readers can apply to avoid getting enmeshed into bad marriages.
Geetha Ravindra has written the book not with any age beacket in mind. She hopes anyone who reads it can gain something out of it. Besides she hopes that her book might help couples to resolve their differences.
Ravindra was pleasantly surprised that non-Indians had responded well to her book as some of the problems discussed are universal.
