Chrome is currently dealing with another security problem that has once again caught the attention of the Indian government this month, prompting them to alert millions of users about the situation. Those using Chrome on Windows and Mac systems have received warnings regarding a significant issue that could allow hackers to bypass security measures and steal personal information. The Indian government's announcement this week is also making many PC and Mac users aware of this problem, urging them to take immediate action regarding these dangers.

This warning has been issued by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, also known as CERT-IN, on September 18 and comes with a "high-severity" notice for Google Chrome users on major systems like Windows, macOS, and Linux. The CERT-In notice states that certain crucial features in the Chrome browser are experiencing problems that could be exploited to steal information or orchestrate phishing attempts. “These weaknesses are found in Google Chrome because of Type Confusion in V8, Heap buffer overflow in ANGLE, Use after free in Dawn, and WebRTC. A remote attacker might take advantage of these weaknesses by convincing someone to visit a specially designed webpage,".

The agency specifically highlights the versions of Chrome on Windows and macOS that are at risk:

Google Chrome versions before 140.0.7339.185/.186 for Windows/Mac
Google Chrome versions before 140.0.7339.185 for Linux.
